Congratulations to all our pupils who celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday 13th May. Thanks to Msgr. Coonan for the lovely ceremony and for all his help and support throughout the year. Thanks also to the altar servers and those who were part of our school choir for adding so much to the ceremony.  And finally, a special word of thanks to class teacher, Ms. Connolly, for preparing the class so well.

Village Clean Up & Litter Pick

We recently took part in a Clean Up and Litter Pick around the village. Well done to everyone for doing such a great job.

Cycle to School Week

We’re taking part in Cycle to School Week.  It’s been great to see our bicycle racks being put to good use.

Pupils from 1st to 6th Classes recently took part in handwriting and art competitions organised  by Killeigh Community Games. This week we received the results and were very happy to have so many medal winners.

We celebrated Rainbow Day on Friday 28th April. We wore bright coloured tops to school to raise money for Laois Offaly Families For Autism. Thanks to everyone’s generosity we raised over €240.

The senior classes were very busy since Easter preparing our vegetable garden for planting.  A lot of digging and weeding was done before a variety of vegetables were planted. We’re looking foward to seeing them grow over the next few weeks and months.

Active School Week proved to be a lot of fun once again this year. There were lots of activities going on all around the school every day. Thanks to 5th & 6th Classes for leading the school in 10 at 10 each morning and for organising each afternoon’s activities. The pupils versus teachers events on Friday afternoon were undoubtedly a highlight!

Cairdeas 3 have been learning about pets and other animals this month. We were all very excited to welcome some four-legged friends to school on Thursday 27th April. It was a great day!

The Confirmation ceremony for pupils of Ballinagar and Geashill schools took place in St. Joseph’s Church, Ballinagar on Friday 10th March.

Congratulations to all the pupils involved and we hope they all had a very happy family celebration.

Well done also to the 5th Class children from both schools who sang so beautifully in the choir, under the direction of Ms. Rabbette and Mrs. Hyland.

We had a great day celebrating World Book Day on March 2nd. There were lots of reading based activities going on in all our classrooms. Children also dressed up as characters from books they enjoyed reading.  Well done to everyone for taking part so enthusiastically.
