There’s been a great Christmas spirit around the school in December.  Lots of lovely Christmas art has been displayed while all classes have been preparing Christmas videos to send home to parents.

There was great excitement in all the classrooms as they watched the Helix online panto, Little Red Riding Hood.

Santa Claus paid a flying visit to all the classes and brought Christmas annuals for everyone.

We were delighted to attend the switching on of the Christmas tree lights and the unveiling of the crib in the village green on Thursday.  We got into the festive spirit by singing Away in a Manger and Jingle Bells.

Our 4th Class had a video call with our friends in Jaux school as part of our local twinning project. Both Ms. Loquet’s and Mrs. Hyland’s classes were delighted to say hello to each other and see each other. Both classes sang some Christmas songs and have agreed to become pen pals in the new year.  Thanks to the Ballinagar, Geashill and Ballycommon Twinning Committee for helping us with this.

6th Class have been busy lately designing and building robots for the Vex IQ Robotics competition. They have also been learning all about coding and programming.

There was a great sense of happiness and pride all around the village on Friday when Geashill was named Ireland’s Tidiest Village at the annual Supervalu Tidy Towns awards ceremony. Everyone in the school sends our congratulations to the Geashill Tidy Towns Committee as well as to the dedicated team of volunteers.

A special mention to Eddie Kelly, our school caretaker, for his trojan work all around the village.

We were delighted to show the trophy around all our classes today.

Good luck to the Raheen football team who play Clonbullogue in the Offaly Intermediate Football Final on Saturday October 30th. Let’s hope they get their hands on the cup at the end of the rainbow!

There was lots of fun on Friday as we held our annual dress up day for Hallowe’en. Children and staff alike put lots of effort into dressing up . Well done everyone!

Elections for our student council have been taking place in our school this week. There has been great excitement around the school as well as lots of learning about how democracy works.

National Tree Day                                                                                                             We celebrated National Tree Day last week by taking part in some fun, tree related activities as well as planting some trees on the school grounds. 

Congratulations to the Naomh Molaoise Girls who won the U14 A county football final recently. It’s a wonderful achievement and we are very proud of our own past pupils who are part of the team and panel.
